As a little girl I remember sitting at our kitchen counter eating the salmon that Sam had caught for our family during his latest Lake Michigan fishing trip. He would describe his “adventures “ for us and we were enthralled by his stories. Unfortunately we weren’t that crazy about the salmon.
Sam was an interesting and talented man. He helped my late husband with many household projects and always gave us good advice about anything and everything. His genuine kindness and helpfulness will be missed.
My condolences to the entire Darin family.

Sam was a great friend and co-worker at the Chicago Botanic Garden. He gave a great class in tool sharpening, with techniques I still use in my kitchen and in my workshop. He had a great sense of humor. I will certainly miss him.
